Euphemia LatiQueΒ "Tika" SumpterΒ (born June 20, 1980)Β is an American actress and producer. Sumpter began her career as the host ofΒ Best Friend's Date. From 2005 to 2010, she appeared in the daytime soap operaΒ One Life to Live. In 2010, she made her film debut inΒ Stomp the Yard: HomecomingΒ and later featured in supporting roles forΒ What's Your Number?Β (2011),Β Sparkle(2012), andΒ A Madea ChristmasΒ (2013). From 2013 to 2021, Sumpter starred as Candace Young in theΒ OWNΒ prime-time soap operaΒ The Haves and the Have Nots. During that time, she starred in the action comedy filmΒ Ride Along(2014) and its sequelΒ Ride Along 2Β (2016), the biographical dramaΒ Get On UpΒ (2014), the crime dramaΒ The Old Man & the GunΒ (2018), and the romantic comedyΒ Nobody's FoolΒ (2018). In 2016, she produced and starred asΒ Michelle Robinson ObamaΒ in the biographical romantic drama filmΒ Southside with You, receivingΒ the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture nomination. From 2019 to 2021, she starred in the ABC comedy series,Β Mixed-ish.
