He is known for his roles as Kol Mikaelson on theΒ CWΒ seriesΒ The Vampire DiariesΒ and its spin-offΒ The Originals, and as Paul O'Donnell on theΒ BBCΒ soap opera Out of the Blue (2008). He was the host ofΒ Nine Network's late-night television quiz showΒ The Mint, and a co-host of the educational showΒ Weather EdΒ onΒ The Weather Channel.
