John GatinsΒ (born April 16, 1968) is an American screenwriter, director, and actor. For writing theΒ drama filmΒ FlightΒ (2012), he was nominated for theΒ Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Gatins made his directorial feature debut by filming his screenplay forΒ DreamerΒ (2005). He also wrote or co-wroteΒ Coach CarterΒ (2005),Β Real SteelΒ (2011),Β Kong: Skull Island, andΒ Power RangersΒ (2017).
